Since I started working at Aspiration, I have learned about how to blog for my nonprofit and some exciting new things have come about in the last month.
1. Thanks to NTEN www.nten.org [1] I have been able to start a Nonprofit Affinity Group. NonprofitOperations@groups.nten.org [2] This e-mail discussion group is an exciting outlet for me to share Nonprofit Operations tips and participate in nonprofit operations discussions.
2. I also have also had the opportunity to get more active with the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) www.ynpn.org [3] and post Nonprofit Operations resources to the members only resources section of their website. I just joined their membership committee and took on a new role as list maven.
3. I am starting to participate in Capaciteria www.Capaciteria.org [4] This great website developed by Aspiration’s board chair-Jonanthan Peizer. Capaciteria lists nonprofit capacity building links, resources, and question boards.
4. I revised my Nonprofit Operations Toolkit that I wrote several years ago for my clients. In the toolkit I compiled resources and tips that I use and follow in managing the day-to-day operations of my own nonprofit. It is broken into eight key operational areas critical to running the day-to-day operations of any nonprofit organization. Including:
- Legal
- Human Resources
- Accounting/Financial Management
- Fundraising/Development
- Board of Directors/Governance
- Technology
- Planning
- Training
I also included in the revised section of the toolkit, “How to improve your Nonprofit Operations in Under Two Months,” and my “10 Nonprofit Operations Success Steps” that I follow in each organization that I work in. The toolkit is available through my personal website www.nonprofitalternatives.org [5].
