A Little Listening in Long Beach

long beach,caOn May 7th, we flew to Long Beach to meet with the Building Healthy Communities of The California Endowment. We were introduced to the BHC Hub Staff Rene and Ana, Program Manager Jenny, and the communications committee Chris, Amelia and Sonya. Wow, what an amazing group of people!

TCE Building Healthy Communities in LA

In February, Matt, Misty and Jessica traveled to Los Angeles to meet the Building Healthy Communities (BHC) Hub media coordinators for a 2 day convening. BHC is a 10 yr initiative from The California Endowment (TCE) to improve the health of 14 communities across California. In 2011-2012, Zerodivide and Aspiration partnered to provide statewide technology capacity building support to the BHC communities.

What a beautiful time Misty and I had in Palm Springs at the end of April! We were there to run the Technology Pre-Conference track at the 20th annual California WIC Association’s Annual Spring Conference and Trade Show on April 29!

CVNL of Marin Trainings

We are super excited to be involved in a few trainings with the Center for Volunter and Nonprofit Leadership of Marin this May.

The trainings get started with Creating your Social Media Presence on May 4. During this training we’ll help nonprofits make sense of using and coordinating online social media tools.

2012 California WIC Association's Spring Conference

We are super excited to be invited to the 20th annual California WIC Association’s Annual Spring Conference and Trade Show on April 29 to facilitate an interactive day about how to understand and coordinate social media and online communications.

The California WIC Program has improved health outcomes in California with healthier WIC food packages and the commitment to Platinum nutrition education and breastfeeding support.

Aspiration eAdvocacy and Social Media Mentoring Program

Since 2005, Aspiration has been developing a program focused on building capacity for “eAdvocacy” and social media in grassroots nonprofit organizations. eAdvocacy, short for “electronic advocacy”, is the utilization of internet tools and organizational processes for connecting with online audiences, developing relationships and mobilizing for action both online and offline. The main targets of Aspiration’s capacity-building efforts are social justice organizations serving socially, economically and politically marginalized communities.

I had such a great time attending the Nonprofit Tech Teach-In at Google in San Francisco on April 19, 2012. Thanks to all the organizations that made the day so valuable and especially to Community Technology Network for organizing such a fantastic event!

This live, collaborative and hands-on training will provide nonprofits a better understanding of how to start an email newsletter or incorporate best practices into a current email newsletter.

The hour long discussion will be lead by participants’ needs. Topics may include: setting up an email newsletter service for a nonprofit, email newsletter best practices, creating an email message calendar, and tracking email analytics.

Data Transparency Weekend

Our inner crypto geek is hyperventilating as we hang in New York City to help run the Wall Street Journal’s first-ever Data Transparency Weekend, a codeathon where 120 privacy and anonymity geeks will prototype and code tools to help give online users greater control over their online identity and activity.
