We are excited to introduce Beatrice Martini, our new team member and Human Rights Technology Lead. Originally from Italy, Beatrice now lives in Berlin, Germany and will work from overseas to drive capacity building efforts with human rights-oriented NGOs from around the world.
We are looking forward to having her at the helm of this multi-dimensional program, which will involve articulating technology practices, facilitating digital security literacy, and the pursuit of a shared language among stakeholders in the human rights technology ecosystem.
Beatrice comes to us with a passion for exploring how technology can most effectively support justice and rights work. At Open Knowledge from 2013 to 2014, she organized and curated the Open Knowledge Conference in 2013 and the Open Knowledge Festival in 2014. She also co-founded OpenTechSchool, a community initiative to help facilitate peer-to-peer technology education. Now, she is joining our efforts in making technology more accessible and inclusive. Beatrice explains,
Within our program, we plan to work with other practitioners and leaders in the sector to work toward more user-friendly, shared language for discussing and learning human rights technology.
We are delighted by the possibilities that lie ahead. Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted on what we are cooking up.
