Ever wanted to know about, or work on, disaster and humanitarian response technology from a people-first perspective? Aspiration's Humanitarian Technology Festival (#HumTechFest) strives to build capacity for humanitarian aid and disaster response efforts through technology and community. These are participatory and community-driven convenings designed for field practitioners, media makers and storytellers, technology developers, information security practitioners, members of affected populations, researchers, and everyone in between. The agenda is co-developed with participants, facilitators, and partners in the time leading up to and during the event.
Aspiration is excited to host a West-Coast meetup to complement the Cambridge Mass Humanitarian Technology Festival! Join us at the Nonprofit Technology Center at 16th and Mission in San Francisco on June 16th from 6p-9p for snacks, beer, soda, and a discussion about the role of the digital in disaster and humanitarian response.
Likely topics include mapping the digital response ecosystem, how to make use of existing response technology projects, responsible project and data life cycles, and self-care for organizers. If you can make it, we welcome your thoughts on what else we should cover!
