As political momentum around Artificial Intelligence accelerates, its development, funding, and expansion are reshaping the policy landscape for civil society. Too often, these debates do not center justice, equity, and the public interest.
AI’s growing footprint, from its climate impact to the push for “cutting the red tape” on hard-won protections in labour, environment, consumer, digital rights, and more, underscores the need for collective action.
The Policy Leadership Initiative invites you to a Forum on AI Openness & Equity. This will be a timely moment for policy practitioners, researchers, and advocates to collectively examine tensions and opportunities, surface shared strategies, and shape narratives that put justice, accountability, and the public good at the heart of AI governance.
This event will bring together policy practitioners, researchers, and advocates to exchange strategies and thinking around pressing issues, including:
-
Reshaping narratives and building solidarity between climate justice and digital rights at COP30 and beyond;
-
Strengthening strategies to hold the line on hard-won protections in the era of the EU’s de-regulation agenda;
-
Engaging in “Digital Sovereignty" debates with a strong vision for equitable futures;
-
Exploring visions for “Public AI” through the lenses of openness and equity.
Who should attend?
We welcome participants from across the policy leadership community, whether you are directly engaged in AI governance, working at the intersections of labour, migration, climate justice, and human rights and social justice, those with lived experience, or practitioners simply seeking to understand how AI openness and equity affects their work.
Please note that while we strive to include as many participants as possible, we may not be able to accommodate all requests to participate. We will prioritise both early-career practitioners as well as those with more experience and who are volunteering to share their knowledge and experience.
How to join
You can request to participate by sending an email to policyleadership@aspirationtech.org. Please include the following information:
-
Policy work you are currently focused on, or interested in getting involved in;

What is your ideal outcome and/or what specific knowledge would you like to share or acquire in joining the Gathering?
We look forward to connecting with you at the AI Openness & Equity Forum.
