We are thrilled to announce the very first Digital Policy Leadership Summit, taking place 15-16 February, 2023 in Brussels, Belgium!
The Summit will be a two-day community event focused on supporting emerging policy leaders. The event will bring together experienced policy practitioners with those seeking to deepen and improve their skills and knowledge.
The focus will be on peer knowledge sharing, relationship building and skills development as we celebrate and amplify new voices and visions to broaden and deepen the community of practitioners working on digital policy issues in the European context.
The Summit will explore a range of policy and leadership-relevant skills, strategies and topics, including:
- Crafting a positive vision for what the future of the policy ecosystem and policy leaders could and should look like;
- How each person present interprets and expresses "leadership", and how intersectional perspectives such as feminism, social and racial justice analyses challenge the idea of the “typical” Brussels technocrat;
- Building strategies to increase the impact of our collective efforts for human rights, racial and social justice, equity and inclusion.
- Exchanging best practices and learnings for sustainability and wellness, growth and career development;
- Exploring essential practices, including building and refining narrative, relationship management, understanding and tracking legislative processes, power analysis and mapping, and negotiation.
If you plan to attend, please note the COVID Protocols section below.
How to participate
Anyone may request to participate. We are planning to keep the group size limited for this first iteration of the Summit in order to facilitate the most inclusive and welcoming environment. Priority will be given to those who are earlier in their policy journeys and those who identify from under-represented communities.
To request participation, you can email us and tell us about:
- Your work, interest areas and passions regarding digital policy in Europe;
- How you think the Summit could support you and your work, and any specific outcomes that would be useful to you;
- Any other ideas and suggestions you might have for what could be on the agenda;
- Any questions or concerns we could address for you.
Participants will be confirmed on a rolling basis.
There is no registration fee to participate. We regret that we do not have budget to provide travel support.
A Co-Created Agenda
The agenda will be a diverse collection of discussions and interactive sessions developed in collaboration with participants. We will employ Aspiration's interactive and participatory approach to convenings, and work to specifically address the outcomes highlighted as most useful and relevant to those in attendance.
We invite everyone participating to bring your stories, ideas, questions, and knowledge to share.
Help us co-create safe and accessible spaces
We invite you to check out our Participation Guidelines and Event Expectations for sharing and exploration at Aspiration events. All participants are expected to help create the most inclusive and safe space possible by honoring the Participant Guidelines.
We strive to host accessible events that maximize the opportunity of all individuals to participate and engage wholly in all spaces and activities, in full respect of cultural and linguistic identities, care needs, and abilities.
We will be gathering at La Tricoterie, located at
158, rue Théodore Verhaegen
1060 Saint-Gilles
Brussels, Belgium.
For inquiries about accessibility or accommodation requests, please get in touch with us. Feel free to email us.
We welcome suggestions and ideas for how we can create even more inclusive and accessible spaces at our Aspiration events. Share your thoughts with us.
COVID Protocols to be Observed at the Event
COVID protocols are still under development, and we will strive to harmonize local norms and regulations with participant needs and comfort levels.
We hope to convey a more concrete set of protocols 4-6 weeks before the event, with the caveat that nothing can be presumed in these pandemic times.
We welcome feedback on the above, as well as suggestions and ideas for how we can further enhance health and safety at the event. Share your thoughts with us.
Until then...
Reach out to us if you want to connect or have any questions about attending.
We look forward to seeing you in February!
